NORMAN, Okla. -- The Oklahoma wrestling team released its 2004-05 schedule on Wednesday. The Sooners will host seven home duals as well as the Oklahoma Open during the upcoming season.

“Our schedule is going to be a challenge because we face some of the top 10 teams, including Oklahoma State, Nebraska and Iowa State,” said head coach Jack Spates. “But these are the challenges we are ready to face on our way to the NCAA Tournament.”

Due to scheduled renovation of the McCasland Field House in December, the Sooners will only hold the Oklahoma Open in the Field House. Three home duals will be held at Norman High School, one at Midwest City High School and three, including Bedlam, will be held at the Lloyd Noble Center.

The Sooners' regular season is scheduled to start on Saturday, Nov. 13, when they travel to Brockport, N.Y., for the sixth annual Brockport/Oklahoma Gold Classic. Oklahoma has claimed the team title at each of the five previous classics.

Oklahoma will host the annual Oklahoma Open on Saturday, Nov. 27, and compete in their first home dual on Thursday, Dec. 9, versus the University of Central Oklahoma at Norman high. As well as hosting Oklahoma State at Lloyd Noble (Dec. 12) and Army at Midwest City high (Jan. 6).

The Sooners will be at home for four straight duals in early February, beginning with Oregon and Oregon State on February 4 at Lloyd Noble and ending on February 12 at Norman high with a Big 12 conference matchup versus Nebraska. Oklahoma will also host Missouri on February 5 at Norman high during homestreak.

The Sooners will finish their regular season on the road with a dual against conference rival Oklahoma State (Feb. 20) and conclude with Michigan State (Feb. 25). The team will also travel out of state to compete against Arizona State (Jan. 12), Cal Poly (Jan. 15), Fresno State (Jan. 15) and Iowa State (Jan. 30).
