Womens Tennis Sets Spring Schedule
November 17, 2004 | Women's Tennis
NORMAN, Okla. Oklahoma coach Mark Johnson announced the women's tennis 2005 spring schedule Wednesday. OU's schedule includes six teams that competed in the 2004 NCAA Championships. The Sooners will face five of the six opponents on the road. The Sooners begin their tough schedule Jan. 28 against Oklahoma Baptist in Oklahoma City.
“We have a really strong schedule this year,” Johnson said. “We start out with a tough stretch against three or four ranked teams and then dive into Big 12 schedule play which is always a very tough conference. This schedule provides our fans an opportunity to see some good teams play.”
The Sooners hit the road for non-conference matches against tough opponents that include BYU, Tulsa, New Mexico, Montana State and Rice. In Big 12 action, Oklahoma hosts Kansas State in its home opener Saturday, March 12 at the OU Headington Family Tennis Center and also welcomes Texas Tech, Missouri and Baylor to Norman in April.
Other Big 12 action includes back-to-back road trips to defending Big 12 Tournament champion Texas A&M and Big 12 regular season champion Texas.
Postseason play begins with the 2005 Big 12 Championships which runs April 28- May 1 in Austin, Texas, followed by the NCAA Regional Championships May 13-15 with the site to be determined.
Free admission to all of OU's home matches.
