Mens Basketball Regular Season Opener Moved to 4 p.m.

November 11, 2004 | Men's Basketball

NORMAN, Okla. The Oklahoma men's basketball team's regular season opener against Cal State Northridge on Saturday, Nov. 20, has moved to 4 p.m. (it was originally scheduled for 1 p.m.).  The move was the result of the recently announced 11 a.m. kickoff of the Oklahoma-Baylor football game that same day in Waco, Texas.  OU fans will now have the opportunity to watch the Sooners play football on television and then attend the basketball game.

Two of Cal State Northridge's top players have ties to the state of Oklahoma.  The Matadors feature senior forwards Ian Boylan and Etoagwara Onyenegecha.  Boylan, CSUN's leading returning scorer from last season (14.5 ppg) is from Norman and attended Norman High School.  Onyenegecha is the brother of OU junior cornerback Chijioke Onyenegecha.  Etoagwara Onyenegecha averaged 13.0 points and 6.0 rebounds last year.

Coming off a 91-56 exhibition win over Cameron on Wednesday, the Sooners play another exhibition game on Saturday when they host Central Oklahoma at 1 p.m. at Lloyd Noble Center.  Terry Evans, former Sooners point guard, is in his third campaign as the Broncho's head coach.  Evans served as OU's director of basketball operations during the program's 2001-02 Final Four season and is the school's all -time leader in 3-point field goals and assists.  He also ranks second in career steals.

A limited number of OU season tickets (student and non-student) are still available by contacting the Athletics Ticket Office at (405) 325-2424 or (800) 456-GoOU.
