Thursday is the final of two exhibition games for the 2004-05 Oklahoma (1-0) women's basketball team. OU will host Oklahoma Christian (3-0) on Nov. 11 at 7 p.m. inside the Lloyd Noble Center. The game will be aired on KOKC-AM (1520) and broadcasted live via the O-Zone at www.SoonerSports.com. Brian Brinkley and Tara DeGuisti will be calling the action.
Oklahoma Christian enters Thursday's exhibition with a 3-0 record and a No. 21 preseason NAIA ranking. The Lady Eagles have defeated Baker University (79-63), Arkansas Baptist (122-19) and Texas Wesleyan (88-63). Stephanie Findley opens her 20th season as coach of one of the most successful NAIA basketball programs. In her tenure with the Lady Eagles have compiled an outstanding 373-227 record. OC went 20-15 and earned a spot in the “Sweet Sixteen” at the national tournament last year.
Oklahoma enters the match up coming off of a satisfying 101-57 win over TTT Riga of Latvia. The Sooners were led by solid three-point shooting from sophomores Chelsi Welch and Erin Higgins who combined to shoot 7-14 from beyond the arc. OU concluded the game with six players scoring 10-or-more points. Welch led OU with 16 points, 11 of which came in the first half on 6-11 shooting from the field. Higgins added 14 points and led the Sooners' long-distance shooting attack with four treys on seven attempts. Centers Beky Preston and Kelly Lam battle for 11 points, while shooting guards Krista Sanchez and Stephanie McGhee netted 10 each.
The second half featured more of the same for OU as they hit five more 3s. The Sooners finished game shooting 50 percent from the floor on 35-69 shooting, including 12-27 (44 percent) from beyond the arc. They also out rebounded TTT Riga, 39-28.
EXHIBITION SUCCESS FOR OU
Thursday will mark the fourth straight year OU will host Oklahoma Christian in exhibition action. OU defeated the Lady Eagles 90-52 last year. OU also handed OC 93-61 (2002-03) and 90-62 (2001-02) losses. The Sooners have averaged 90.7 points per game against OC in exhibition play.
Oklahoma is 11-0 in exhibition games since the 1999-2000 season. The Sooners are 16-4 in exhibition play under head coach Sherri Coale.

ALL IN THE FAMILY
Thursday's sidelines will feature some very familiar faces between the two programs. Oklahoma head coach Sherri Coale will face former coach and good friend in Oklahoma Christian's head coach Stephanie Findley. Findley coached Coale (then Sherri Buben) for two years and Sooner assistant coach Jan Ross for one year at OC. Ross also served as an assistant coach under Findley for five years (1986-91).
Coale was also inducted into Oklahoma Christian Hall of Fame on Feb. 15, 2002.
Coale graduated summa cum laude and was an Academic All-American in 1987, while Ross earned academic and athletic All-America honors her senior season (1986).
100-AN-THEN-SOME
For the third time in the last five games, including Europe, OU has surpassed the century mark, scoring 100 or more points. Most recently, OU took Lativa for 101 points last Thursday. The Sooners also scored 105 on Case Basketball and 100 against Saint Etienne Select while over in Europe in May 2004.

PRESEASON RANKINGS
The Associated Press and USA Today's/ESPN Coaches Polls have been released. The Sooners are among the top 25 in each; No. 22 in AP and No. 25 in Coaches. In both polls, the Big 12 has strong presences with five teams in each.
SOONERS OPEN REGULAR SEASON AGAINST SEMO
Oklahoma opens its 2004-05 regular season and home schedule in one week. The Sooners will host two home games in three days as OU faces Southeast Missouri State (16-13) on Friday, Nov. 19 at 7 p.m. and Texas State (8-19) on Sunday, Nov. 21 at 2 p.m. Both games will be played inside the Lloyd Noble Center and broadcasted on the O-Zone.
THANKSGIVING IN THE BAHAMAS
For the second time in program history, the University of Oklahoma women's basketball team will travel to the Bahamas. Over the Thanksgiving Holiday break, OU will participate in a two-day Junkanoo Jam Tournament hosted on the Grand Bahamas Island. The Sooners will face Akron on Friday, Nov. 26, while Florida takes on Iowa. The winners of Friday's games will compete against each other on Saturday.
