Men's Golf Finishes Fall at PGA West

NORMAN, Okla. The University of Oklahoma men's golf team ends their fall season with the 2004 Prestige hosted by UC Davis at PGA West in La Quinta, Calif.

 

The tournament will be held at the Greg Norman Course, one of six courses that makes up PGA West, starting with 36 holes on Monday, Nov. 1, and ending with the final 18 Tuesday, Nov. 2.

 

Sophomore Anthony Kim, the 2003 NCAA Freshman of the Year, returns to his hometown for the tournament.

 

Kim, who has recorded second- and 14th-place finishes in two tournaments this fall, tied for 33rd at the 2003 Prestige. He finished six over with rounds of 75, 73 and 74.

 

Oklahoma finished 11th overall in 2003 at 32 over par.

 

Monday's other starters include 2003 All-American Carlos Del Moral, junior Brodie Flanders, sophomore Nick Sheedy and freshman Phillip Bryan.

 

Flanders is the only returning starter from last year's Prestige. In 2003, he finished tied for 49th (+11), shooting rounds of 72, 75 and 80.

 

Defending tournament champion No. 16 UCLA leads a competitive field completed by No. 10 TCU, No. 17 Brigham Young, UC Davis, UC Irvine, Colorado, Kansas, Northern Colorado, Notre Dame, Oregon, Pacific, Pepperdine, Stanford, Texas Tech, and Yale.

 

Oklahoma is ranked No. 23 in the latest GCAA/Precept Coaches Division I Poll.
