Mens Golf Signs Local Player
August 06, 2003 | Men's Golf
University of Oklahoma head men's golf coach Jim Ragan announced the signing of Daniel Mitchell to a national letter of intent today. Mitchell hails from Oklahoma City and attended Casady High School.
"We are extremely excited and feel very fortunate to have someone of his caliber in our system," Ragan said. "He's had a fantastic summer and has played exceptionally well with tough competition. We are delighted to have such an impact player and I believe he will be a significant addition to our lineup."
Mitchell arrives with strong local experience. He won five tournaments and was the youngest winner ever at the Firecracker Tournament in Lawton, Okla., where he tied the 18-hole record and set the 36-and 54-hole records. In his last two years of high school, Mitchell placed in the top five in every tournament but one. He has also won more than 35 local and statewide tournaments.
"I am really excited to be playing at Oklahoma because both of my parents played there and it's fun to share that experience with them." Mitchell said. "I'm ready to get to school and play that first day."
