Sooner Men Finish Regular Season At Colorado
The No. 75 Oklahoma men's tennis team (14-9, 0-6 Big 12) returns to the road for their final regular season match against the Colorado Buffaloes on Saturday, April 19, at the Kittredge Tennis Courts in Boulder, Colo. The Sooners are hoping to end the regular season on a strong note with their first conference victory.

The Buffs are 6-13 on the season and 1-4 in conference play. CU is coming off a 4-3 road loss to No. 33 Rice. OU leads the overall series 36-15. Last season, Colorado came to Norman ranked 60th in the nation and defeated the Sooners, 5-2.

Oklahoma Picks Up Wins Against UTA And USL
OU began last week with a 5-2 loss on Wednesday to Big 12 rival No. 36 Oklahoma State. Seniors Chris Mitchell (Tulsa, Okla.) and Matt Ogle (Tulsa, Okla.) provided wins at the No. 2 and 5 singles positions, respectively.

The Sooners ended their five-match losing skid three days later against Texas-Arlington with a 5-2 victory. OU swept the doubles point and Mitchell and sophomore Matt Long (Fort Worth, Texas) posted straight-set wins at the No. 2 and 5 positions, respectively to increase OU's lead. Freshman Alexei Ivanov (Izhevsk, Russia) posted his sixth win at No. 1 to clinch the victory while freshman Tommy Garrison (Enid, Okla.) win in three sets at No. 6 for OU's final point.

Oklahoma earned its 14th victory on the season the following day over regional opponent Saint Louis, 4-3. After sweeping the doubles point for the 10th time this spring, the Sooners got off to another quick start in singles as sophomore Silviu Tanasoiu (Sibiu, Romania) beat USL's Thomas Kwong, 6-2, 6-0, at No. 3 and Garrison downed the Billikens' Michael Hoosien, 6-4, 6-2.

Sooner senior Ogle won his final match at the OU Family Headington Center against Tom de Larzac, 6-1, 7-5, to clinch the OU win.

Sooner Leaders Leading the Sooners in singles is senior Chris Mitchell (Tulsa, Okla.), who sports a combined record of 13-8 at No. 1 and 2 singles. Freshman Alexei Ivanov is 5-2 at No. 2 singles and senior Matt Ogle is a combined 8-2 at the No. 4 and 5 positions.

Mitchell and freshman Tommy Garrison (Enid, Okla.) have combined for a 12-6 mark at No. 1 doubles this spring. The duo has been solid since paring up last Fall sporting an overall record of 19-8. Ivanov and Matt Long have started the last nine matches at No. 2 doubles and have won eight of them to move to 15-4 overall.

Head Coach Paul Lockwood
Paul Lockwood is In his 16th year as OU's head men's tennis coach. Lockwood has experienced success with his teams over the years both on and off the court. He has compiled a 233-153 (.603) overall record and claimed the Big Eight Conference title in 1992. Lockwood was named the Big Eight Coach of the Year in 1991 and 1992 for his outstanding efforts. Lockwood's teams also earned five consecutive Academic ITA All-America honors from the 1996-97 season to the 2000-2001 season.
