OU Women's Basketball Set To Host NCAA First and Second Rounds

Norman, Okla. - The NCAA Division I Women's Basketball committee announced today that 10th-seed Oklahoma will host 15th-seed Saint Francis (23-7), second-seed Villanova (25-5) and seventh-seed George Washington (24-6) in its NCAA sub-regional in Norman, Okla., inside the Lloyd Noble Center on March 23 and 25. Game times have not been announced.

OU will be making it fourth straight and sixth overall appearance in the NCAA Championship. The Sooners enter postseason action with an overall record of 19-12 and a fifth-place finish in the Big 12 Conference. Oklahoma will face George Washington on Sunday, March 23. With a win, OU would advance to take on the winner of Villanova and Saint Francis on Tuesday, March 25.

Two of the three teams assigned to the Norman site have already journey to the state for previous NCAA games. OU eliminated Villanova, 66-53, in the second round last year, while George Washington was one of three teams Oklahoma hosted during the 2001 NCAA Championship. The other two clubs were Oral Roberts and Stanford.
