OU Men's Tennis Defeated By No. 4 Baylor

NORMAN, Okla. - The 72nd-ranked Oklahoma men's tennis team lost to fourth-ranked Baylor, 7-0, Saturday night at the Baylor Tennis Center in Waco, Texas. The Sooners fall to 11-3 overall and 0-2 in Big 12 action while the Bears improve 14-1 overall and 3-0 in conference.

Baylor won all three doubles matches to claim the doubles point and an early lead. OU's Matt Ogle (Tulsa, Okla.) and Brad Prigmore (Wichita Falls, Texas) were beaten 8-5 at No. 2 by BU's Zoltan Papp and and Benjamin Becker. Senior Chris Mitchell (Tulsa, Okla.) and freshman Tommy Garrison (Enid, Okla.) dropped only their second match of the season at No. 1 falling to the Bears' 40th-ranked duo of Benedikt Dorsch and Reiner Neurohr, 8-3.

In singles, OU's Ogle fought hard against BU's 37th-ranked Matias Marin pushing their match to three sets at No. 3 but was defeated in a tie-breaker, 4-6, 7-5, 1-0 (10-6). Mitchell was beaten in straight sets by Dorsch, the top-ranked collegiate player in the United States, 6-1, 6-2. Baylor also posted straight-set wins at the No. 1, 4, 5 and 6 positions.

The Sooners will be looking to bounce back with a pair of matches in California next week. OU is scheduled to take on San Francisco (11-4) on Wednesday, March 19. Match time is set for 2 p.m. (PST) at the Olympic Club. Oklahoma heads to Sacramento, Calif., the next day to take on Sacramento State (8-9) the next day. That match is scheduled to begin at Noon (PST) at the Rio Del Oro Racquet Club.
