NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma men's tennis team fell to No. 61 New Mexcio, 7-0, Friday afternoon at the Oak Tree Country Club in Edmond, Oklahoma. The Sooners dropped to 3-1 overall while the Lobos improved to 4-2 on the year.
The Sooners only victory on the afternoon came at No. 1 doubles where senior Chris Mitchell (Tulsa, Okla.) and freshman Tommy Garrison (Enid, Okla.) moved to 9-2 overall with an 8-5 victory over Brent Salazar and Henry Gers. The Lobos won the doubles point after winning the other two doubles matches.
At No. 5 singles, OU sophomore Alex Nomicos (Targoviste, Romania) was edged by Jasmin Hodzic in three sets 5-7, 6-3, 10-8. Senior Matt Ogle (Tulsa, Okla.) also took the first set from David Kowalski at No. 3 singles but was beaten 4-6, 6-3, 6-2.
The Sooners look to bounce back against Centenary Saturday morning at the Santa Fe Country Club in Oklahoma City (6300 N. Santa Fe). The match is scheduled to start at 11 a.m.
