Women's tennis senior set to compete in singles action

University of Oklahoma senior women's tennis player Anda Perianu (Braila, Romania) is set to compete Thursday, Nov. 6 in the 2003 ITA National Indoor Tournament to be played at the University of Michigan Varsity Tennis Center, in Ann Arbor, Mich. Perianu earned her spot in the 32-player field by claiming the Riviera/ITA Central Regional Tournament singles title on Oct. 26, in Salt Lake City, Utah.

"Winning the regional tournament has given me a boost of confidence going into national indoors," said Perianu. "I feel confident and ready to go out there and give it my best shot."

The tournament, which is held Nov. 6-9 includes the top two players from each region. Perianu has drawn top-seeded Raquel Kops-Jones of Cal-Berkley in the first round and will play Thursday at 8.30 a.m. EST. Perianu has had an impressive fall season and owns a fall record of 7-1.
