The University of Oklahoma women's basketball team began the season by routing Sparta Praha, 94-56, in its exhibition opener at the Lloyd Noble Center, Thursday night. OU is now 13-4 in exhibition play over the past eight years and 10-0 since 2000.
The No. 21 Sooners dominated right from the opening tip, scoring 58 points in the first half while shooting 57 percent from the field. OU held a 58-26 advantage at the half.
The pace of the game slowed in the second half but Sparta Praha never threatened as Oklahoma built a 43-point lead.

Senior Maria Villarroel led the Sooners with 17 points and four rebounds. Dionnah Jackson, a 2003 All-Big 12 second teamer, began her junior campaign with a solid performance of 13 points, five rebounds and five assists. Senior Caton Hill returned to the Lloyd Noble floor for the first time since tearing her ACL during the non-conference season last year. Hill dropped in 10 points and four rebounds in 16 minutes of action. OU head coach Sherri Coale emptied her bench in the first half as the six freshmen saw early and regular action. Highly touted freshman Leah Rush was perfect from the field (4-for-4) and poured in 10 points. Redshirt freshman Casey Walker hit for seven points in her Sooner debut, while Erin Higgins added five points. OU hit 46 percent of its shots, as opposed to 30 percent from its opponent. The Sooners dominated the boards with 55 rebounds, 24 offensive, topping the visitor who grabbed 35 total boards. The generous OU lineup had 21 assists, 13 of which can in the first half. The Sooners next home exhibition game is Tuesday against Oklahoma Chrisitian at 7 p.m. OU begins its regular season in the Bertha Teague Classic against Oral Roberts on Nov. 27.
