NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma men's tennis team went 5-0 in singles action and 0-1 in doubles play Saturday afternoon at the Hurricane Invitational in Tulsa, Okla. The tournament was held at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center with a field including Tulsa, Arkansas, Drake, Oklahoma State, Southwest Missouri State and Tulane.
In the doubles backdraw, Senior Matt Ogle (Tulsa, Okla.) and sophomore Alex Nomicos (Targoviste, Romania) were defeated, 8-3.
Following the conclusion of scheduled play, several more singles matches were set up for the afternoon. Nomicos, Ogle, freshman Tommy Garrison (Enid, Okla.) and sophomore Matt Long (Fort Worth, Texas) all won in straight sets while sophomore Brad Prigmore (Wichita Falls, Texas) was also victorious when his opponent defaulted because of an injury.
The Sooners have 12 days until their next tournament at the ITA All-American Championships in Chattanooga, Tenn., on Oct. 4-13.
