NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma men's tennis team went 2-5 in singles action and 1-1 in doubles play Saturday afternoon at the Hurricane Invitational in Tulsa, Okla. The tournament is being held at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center with a field including Tulsa, Arkansas, Drake, Oklahoma State, Southwest Missouri State and Tulane.
In the singles main draw, sophomore Brad Prigmore (Wichita Falls, Texas) advanced to the quarterfinals before falling. Sophomore Matt Long (Fort Worth, Texas) was defeated in three sets to end his run. In the singles backdraw, sophomore Alex Nomicos (Targoviste, Romania) went 1-1 while senior Matt Ogle (Tulsa, Okla.), sophomore Matt Lopez (Enid, Okla.) and freshman Tommy Garrison (Enid, Okla.) all went 0-1 on the day.
In the doubles main draw, Garrison and Long were eliminated from the tournament while Ogle and Nomicos advanced to the finals in the doubles backdraw.
Ogle and Nomicos' match against Tulsa's Olof Sjolund and Steve Timperley is set to begin at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.
