NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma baseball team will open its fall workout season on Monday, Sept. 23, with an intrasquad scrimmage at 4 p.m. at L. Dale Mitchell Park. Monday's scrimmage will kick off four weeks of practice for the Sooners which will end with the annual Red-White intrasquad series during the final week (Oct. 14-19). The team will also hold scrimmages next week on Tuesday at 4 p.m. and Saturday at 10 a.m. All practices and scrimmages are open to the public.
The Sooners have been preparing for the fall season by participating in individual workouts during the first four weeks of school. Eighteen lettermen, including 10 starters, return off last year's 35-27 squad that made its eighth NCAA tournament appearance under head coach Larry Cochell. OU has also added 13 newcomers to the roster headlined by 2002 Junior College All-American Mike Swindell out of Riverside (Calif.) Community College.
