OU Sherri Coale Honored by Kansas City Sports Commission

Norman, Okla. - The Kansas City Sports Commission honored Oklahoma head women's basketball coach Sherri Coale at its 30th Annual Awards Banquet in Kansas City, Mo., last week. The organization recognized Coale for making a unique contributions for Special Achievement for Amateur Athletics. The sixth-year Sooner coach guided Oklahoma to its first ever NCAA Final Four appearance and national championship game. OU also produced a school best 32-4 record and earned its highest national ranking ever of No. 2 in both the USA Today/ESPN Coaches and Associated Press polls. In addition, the Sooners have won three Big 12 regular season titles, appeared in three consecutive NCAA Sweet 16s, won one Big 12 Tournament crown and captured a regional championship under Coale's guidance.

Oklahoma became just the third team in NCAA Basketball Tournament history to have both its men's and women's programs competing in the Final Four the same year.
