LINCOLN, Neb. - The No. 17 Oklahoma baseball team took an early lead in Sunday's series rubber match against 12th-ranked Nebraska, however the Cornhuskers exploded for 11 runs between the second and fifth innings and after a seventh-inning home run, run-ruled OU 12-2. Sophomore catcher Ryan Richardson was OU's lone bright spot as he belted two homers on the day, doubling his season home run output to four. Richardson's two homers were two of OU's three hits on the day.

Michael Bradbury (2-1) took the loss for OU in his first start of the season, after allowing six runs - five earned - on four hits in 2.1 innings pitched. Jarod McAuliff, Evan Greusel and Buddy Blair all made relief appearances in today's ball game.

Richardson got the Sooners off to a fast start by belting a solo home run off of NU starter Aaron Marsden in the second inning. Nebraska, however, answered with two runs on just one hit in its half of the second. In the third, the Huskers batted around the order, chased Bradbury and scored four runs to take a 6-1 lead.

After NU added a run in the fourth, Richardson clobbered his second home run of the day, another solo shot to left. The catcher's two home runs were the first allowed by Marsden on the season, but Nebraska redeemed its pitcher by batting around once more in the fifth and adding four runs, including a two-run home run by Jeff Leise.

Justin Seely drilled a home run over the left field wall in the seventh to give NU a 12-2 lead and per Big 12 rules, the game ended once the Huskers registered a 10-run lead. It was the second consecutive season in which Nebraska run-ruled the Sooners and the first time OU has lost in such a fashion since May 11, 2001, to Oklahoma State.

The Sooners are next in action on Tuesday evening, as they travel to Fayetteville, Ark., to battle the Arkansas Razorbacks. OU defeated UA 7-1 on March 12 and look to sweep the two-game, home-and-home season series.

Oklahoma will then host this year's version of the Red River Rivalry next weekend, as Texas visits L. Dale Mitchell Park for a three-game set. Game times are set for 6:35 p.m. on Friday, 2 p.m. on Saturday and 1 p.m. on Sunday.
