NORMAN, Okla. - University of Oklahoma junior guard Hollis Price was named the Phillips 66 Big 12 Player of the Week today for his performances in victories over rivals Oklahoma State and Texas last week. It was the first league player-of-the-week honor for an OU men's basketball player this season.
In OU's 58-53 win against Oklahoma State last Wednesday, Price registered a game-high 17 points and three assists and was a huge factor late in the game as the Sooners fended off the Cowboys. At Texas on Saturday, Price poured in a team-high 25 points with the help of four three-pointers, and added five rebounds, one assist and two steals as the Sooners won 85-84 in overtime. Price scored the go-ahead basket in the extra session with 20 seconds showing on the clock.
The player-of-the-week award is the second of Price's career. He won the final honor of last season for his efforts against Colorado and Oklahoma State.
Price leads Oklahoma with his 18.1 points per game on the year. He is averaging 23.3 points over the last four contests and has scored at least 24 points in four of OU's last seven outings. In league games, Price ranks third in the Big 12 with his 19.8 points per game. The New Orleans, La., native is shooting .508 from the field this season, .434 from three-point range and .864 from the free throw line.
