Three OU Men's Basketball Players Earn Academic Honors

NORMAN, Okla. - Three University of Oklahoma men's basketball players - Michael Cano, Blake Johnston and Jozsef Szendrei - were named to the Academic All-Big 12 Team, the conference office announced today. Cano and Johnston were named to the first team while Szendrei was a second-team honoree.

Cano is a senior finance major from San Antonio, Texas, while Johnston, Cano's roommate, is a redshirt freshman University Studies major from Midland, Texas. Szendrei, a junior who is in his second year at OU after redshirting last year, is an international business major from Budapest, Hungary.

To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.0 grade point average or higher either cumulatively or over each of the last two semesters and must have participated in 60 percent or more of his team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfer students are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are eligible.
