NORMAN, Okla. - Hollis Price, a junior guard on OU's fourth-ranked men's basketball team, was named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches All-District 12 First Team on Tuesday. The Sooners' leading scorer through 22 games, Price joins Kansas' Drew Gooden and Kirk Hinrich, Missouri's Kareem Rush and Oklahoma State's Maurice Baker on the first team. OU junior guard Ebi Ere was voted to the district's second team.
Price is averaging 17.2 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.7 steals per contest on the season. He has drained a team-high 50 three-pointers (2.4 per game) and is shooting .502 from the field, .424 from beyond the arc and .852 from the free throw line. The 6-1, 165-pound New Orleans, La., native has scored at least 24 points four times in the last nine games and was named the Big 12 Player of the Week last week.
Ere is the Sooners' second-leading scorer and third-leading rebounder with his 15.1 points and 5.7 boards per game. The Preseason Big 12 Newcomer of the Year and three-time league rookie of the week also averages 1.6 assists per outing and is shooting .342 from long distance and .789 from the foul line.
Joining Ere on the all-district second team are Iowa's Reggie Evans and Luke Recker, Kansas' Nick Collison and Creighton's Kyle Korver.
