NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma wrestling team will host the 32nd Oklahoma Open on Saturday in the Howard McCasland Field House. Preliminaries will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday and finals will take place at 7 p.m. Among the teams competing will be top-ranked University of Central Oklahoma, Bacone and Air Force. Also sending individuals will be top-ranked Oklahoma State and No. 10 Missouri.
Oklahoma claimed seven titles last year as well as three runner-up awards. Highlighting the competitors for the Sooners will be Brockport/Oklahoma Gold Classic and Missouri Open champion Josh Lambrecht and Missouri Open titleist Leonce Crump. Both wrestlers are returning All-Americans that claimed 2002 Big 12 Conference championships and are currently undefeated this season. Lambrecht is ranked first by both Amateur Wrestling News and Intermat, while Crump is ranked fourth.
