NORMAN, Okla. (AP) - Maria Villarroel scored 31 points as No. 23 Oklahoma beat Sam Houston State 79-52 Tuesday night.

Villarroel, who went 5-of-9 from the free throw line, also had five rebounds. Beky Preston added 13 points and nine rebounds for the Sooners (2-1), who led 37-26 at halftime.

Alice Johnson scored 19 points and had five rebounds, while Kelley Kramer scored 11 points for Sam Houston State (1-2).
