NORMAN, Okla. - A pair of University of Oklahoma men's tennis players were eliminated in the singles bracket of the prequalifying portion of the 2002 Icy Hot/ITA Men's All-American Championships in Chattanooga, Tenn., at the Atlanta Community Tennis Association Champions Club.
OU senior Chris Mitchell (Tulsa, Okla.) was defeated by Georgia State's Marias Ormaza in straight sets (6-3, 6-2). Feshman Tommy Garrison (Enid, Okla.) moved on to the round of 64 with a straight-set victory over Winthrop's Adam Narczewski (6-3, 7-5). Garrison was defeated in the next round by Louisvilles' Paulo Carvalho (6-1, 6-1).
Garrison and Mitchell are scheduled to compete in doubles against Baylor's Jason Gould and Barry McLaren Sunday morning at 10:30.
