NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma men's tennis team went 0-4 in singles action at the Midland Invitational in Midland, Texas, Friday afternoon. The tournament is being held at the Midland Raquet Club with a field including players from Stanford, USC, UCLA, Pepperdine, Arizona, North Carolina, Illinois, Portland, SMU, Oklahoma, TCU, Texas, Baylor and Texas A&M.
In the singles main draw, sophomore Alex Nomicos (Targoviste, Romania) was defeated by UCLA's Alberto Francis (6-1, 6-3) while sophomore Matt Long (Fort Worth, Texas) fell to North Carolina's Trystan Meniane in straight sets (6-2, 6-1).
In the singles consolation draw, UCLA's Chris Surapol was victorious over Long (6-2, 6-3) while Nomicos was beaten by Illinois' Chris Martin (6-2, 6-2).
Long and Nomicos will compete in the doubles draw Saturday afternoon.
