NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma men's tennis team went 3-2 in singles action at the Omni Hotels Men's Tennis Region V Championship in Tulsa, Okla., Thursday afternoon. The tournament is being held at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center with a field including players from Arkansas, Bradley, Colorado, Creighton, Drake, Evansville, Illinois State, Indiana State, Missouri-Kansas City, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Oral Roberts, St. Louis, Southern Illinois, Southwest Missouri State, Wichita State and Tulsa.
In the singles main draw, sophomore transfer Silviu Tanasoiu (Sibiu, Romania) won in straight sets over Southwest Missouri State's Filip Knezevic (6-3, 6-2) to advance to the round of 16. Sophomore Matt Lopez (Enid, Okla.) was defeated by Saint Louis' Tom Kwong (6-2, 6-2) while sophomore Brad Prigmore (Wichita Falls, Texas) fell in three sets to Evansville's David Crouzet (3-6, 6-1, 7-5).
In the singles consolation draw, Lopez was the winner over Bradley's Marijon Panzic (6-1, 6-3) and Prigmore beat Nebraska's Joe Rivera in straight sets (6-2, 6-2).
The singles main and consolation draws will resume play Friday morning at 9.
