  • Sixth-ranked Oklahoma improved to 16-3 (5-2 Big 12) with the 58-53 win, while ninth-ranked Oklahoma State fell to 17-4 (4-4 Big 12). OU is 5-2 on the year against teams currently ranked in the top 25. It was the first time the teams met while both being ranked in the top 10.
  • With tonight's win, Oklahoma extended its home winning streak to 18 games and gave Kelvin Sampson his 100th victory at home as OU's head coach. Coming into tonight's game, OU held a 24.5 ppg margin of victory at home.
  • Oklahoma now leads the all-time series against OSU 117-82, including a 71-25 margin in Norman. OU is 6-2 against the Cowboys at home under Kelvin Sampson.
  • Oklahoma State outrebounded OU 35-26 tonight, just the seventh time this season the Sooners have been beaten on the glass. OU is 4-3 when being out-rebounded on the year. OSU held a 15-8 advantage on the offensive glass tonight.
  • OU's 26 rebounds were the fewest by the team this season, as were its eight offensive boards. OU's low rebound total for the 2000-2001 season was 21 rebounds, grabbed against Iowa State on Jan. 6, 2001. Before tonight, OU had grabbed at least 11 offensive boards in every game of the year.
  • Oklahoma held OSU to just 17 first-half points, the fewest scored by the Cowboys in a half all season. OSU's previous low of 25 points came in the first half at Baylor on Jan. 8.
  • OSU's 17 first-half points were the fewest allowed in any half by the Sooners all season and the fewest since allowing just 15 points to Missouri on Feb. 26, 2000 (an 83-56 OU win in Norman).
  • Oklahoma State didn't reach double digits in scoring until the 5:50 mark of the first half and shot just 33.3% from the field in the opening stanza (7-for-21).
  • With his 17 points, Hollis Price reached double figures in scoring for the 16th time this season. He has now led the Sooners in scoring eight times this season, including the last three games.
  • With his 10 points and 11 rebounds, Aaron McGhee notched his fifth double-double of the season and of his OU career. Tonight was also the fifth time this season McGhee has led the club in rebounds.
  • Tonight's sellout attendance of 12,145 was the third-largest home crowd of the season for Oklahoma, behind the Maryland game (12,715) and OU's contest against Texas Tech (12,654).
  • OU's 58 points were the fewest scored in a victory by the Sooners this season. The last time an OU team won a game with as few points was a 54-45 win over Texas in last year's Big 12 Tournament title game on March 11.
  • OU held the Cowboys to their lowest point total of the season. OSU's previous low was 61, set on three occasions this year.
