Men's Basketball's Brown Returns To Norman After Successful World University Games

NORMAN, Okla. - University of Oklahoma men's basketball sophomore center Jabahri Brown returned to the OU campus Monday following a successful showing at the World University Games in Beijing, China. Competing for the U.S. Virgin Islands, Brown averaged 7.6 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2.6 blocked shots and 1.6 steals in seven games.

Brown, who did not play in the Virgin Islands' final contest (a 102-63 romp over Bulgaria), helped his team to a 6-2 final mark and 17th-place Games finish. The Virgin Islands won six straight contests after an 0-2 start.

The 6-10 native of St. Thomas recorded a pair of double-doubles in his seven games and grabbed at least 10 rebounds in four outings. His best statistical game came in a 67-55 victory over Nigeria when he registered 15 points, 11 rebounds, four blocked shots, two steals and an assist.

Brown competed as a freshman during the 1999-00 season at Florida International and averaged 8.6 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.3 blocked shots and 1.6 steals in 24 minutes per game. The transfer will not be eligible to compete for the Sooners this season until the conclusion of the fall semester.
