Viviana Mracnova Named To All-Big 12 Tennis Team

NORMAN, Okla. - University of Oklahoma women's tennis player Viviana Mracnova has been named to the 2001 All-Big 12 singles team the league office announced today. The Zvolen, Slovakia, product has earned all-conference honors in each of her four seasons as a Sooner.

The senior currently owns a No.84 national singles ranking in the Intercollegiate Tennis Assocaiton poll and finished the season with a 13-4 overall record and a 9-2 Big 12 Conference mark playing at No. 1 singles. Mracnova is a three-time All-Big12 doubles performer (1998, 1999 and 2000) and a two-time singles honoree (2000 and 2001). The conference selected 12 players to the singles team and Mracnova owned a 5-2 record against other honorees this season, with one of her most impressive wins of the season coming over Baylor's 29th-ranked Jahvani Parekh, also an All-Big 12 singles selection. She is also a four-time Academic All-Big 12 selection.

Mracnova will leave Oklahoma as one of the most-decorated women's tennis players in school history. In addition to All-Big 12 honors, she competed in the NCAA Tournament in 2000 with former teammate Angela Stroup and spent much of her four-year career ranked among the nation's Top 100 tennis players.

All-conference players were selected by a vote of all Big 12 coaches.
