OU Sweeps Past Oral Roberts in Women's Tennis Action

NORMAN, Okla - The University of Oklahoma women' tennis team captured a convincing, 7-0, victory over intra-state foe Oral Thursday at Woodlake Country Club. With the win, Oklahoma impoves to 4-3 on the season.

The Sooners bounced back from their loss to 36th-ranked TCU this past Sunday in a big way, winning at every singles position. At the No. 1 slot, senior Viviana Mracnova upped her season record to 4-2 with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Marlena Maciolek. Mracnova's doubles partner, sophomore Melissa Mendieta dropped Claire Waltman, 6-1, 6-3, at No. 2 singles and fellow sophomore Annette Bryntesson picked up a 6-4, 6-1 win over Jennifer Helm. Senior Stephanie Sajbert was a victor in three sets at the No. 4 spot, defeating Rachel Budd 4-6, 6-2, 6-0. Sophomore Joni Helleland cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 win over Barbara Urbaniak and redshirt freshman Tiffany Streeter downed Lindsay Patterson, 6-4, 6-1, in straight sets.

OU also two doubles matches to take the doubles point. Mracnova and Mendieta were winners at No. 1 doubles, dropping Maciolek and Waltman, 8-3. Helleland and Streeter teamed for a 8-2 victory over Janou Meens and Elizabeth Middleton. A No. 2 doubles match was not played.

Oklahoma returns to action on at home on Saturday, March 17, when they take on Kansas at 11 a.m.
