NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma women's tennis lost to No. 36 TCU, 4-0, today at the Westwood Tennis Center in Norman, Okla. OU dropped to 3-3 on the season with the loss.
TCU took the doubles point, despite senior Viviana Mracnova and sophomore Melissa Mendieta's 8-1 victory over Katrin Gaber and Karolina Roubicknova at No. 1 doubles. Mracnova and Mendieta now own a 5-1 record on the season. Sophomore Annette Bryntesson and senior Stephanie Sajbert fell to the 35th-ranked doubles team of Saber Pierce and Rosa Perez at the No. 2 slot, 8-5. In No. 3 doubles action, sophomore Joni Helleland and redshirt freshman Tiffany Streeter were defeated, 8-2, by Paty Aburto and Leoni Weirich.
Both coaches agreed to stop play when one team scored the four points necessary for the win. After taking the doubles point, TCU picked up wins at Nos. 3, 4, 5 and 6 singles to close out the match.
Oklahoma returns to action on Thursday, March 8, when it hosts Oral Roberts a 2 p.m. at the Westwood Tennis Courts.
