The Sooners scored their lone run in the first inning when senior third baseman Jason Bartlett (1-for-4) laced a one-out double to left field and advanced to third on a passed ball by 'Husker catcher Tito Rivera (0-for-1). Nebraska shortstop Will Bolt (3-for-4) committed a two-base error on a ball hit by the next Oklahoma batter, senior first baseman Greg Dobbs (1-for-4), that brought Bartlett home.
Junior shortstop Sergio Garcia (1-for3) and senior pinch hitter/catcher Eliot Joyner (1-for-1) were the other two Sooners to collect a hit off of Komine in the game.
Michael Bradbury, OU's starting pitcher, fell to 0-2 on the year after working 4.1 innings and giving up only three runs (two earned) on six hits.
The two teams will continue the series Saturday with the second game scheduled for 2 p.m. at L. Dale Mitchell Park. The first 1,000 fans through the gate will receive free Oklahoma foam bats.
