NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma women's tennis team will play its first two matches on the road this week as they take on No. 24 Texas A&M, Thursday at 6 p.m. and battle No. 5 Texas, Saturday at Noon. Oklahoma enters the match with 4-4 record overall and 0-2 in the Big 12 Conference.
The Aggies are 11-2 overall and 1-1 in league play, while the Longhorns have posted 9-2 and 5-0 marks for the season. This is the first time OU has faced ranked opponents in back-to-back matches. The Sooners are 0-2 on the season against ranked teams, falling to No. 48 New Mexico, 5-2, on Feb. 3, and to NO. 36 TCU March 4, 4-0.
OU is led by the No. 1 doubles tandem of senior Viviana Mracnova and sophomore Melissa Mendieta, who were named to the preseason All-Big 12 doubles team. The pair owns a 7-1 record for the year. Mracnova leads the Sooners' singles charge with a 4-2 mark at the No. 1 spot.
