MARLOW, Okla. - The eight-ranked Oklahoma wrestling team dominated No. 13 Oregon State, 32-11, this afternoon in Marlow, Okla. Three Sooners earned pins in the win, including Jared Frayer (149), Waymon May (197) and Marlow native Michael Lightner (141).
Frayer started the dual at 149 pounds with a defensive pin of Oregon State's Casey Horn in 3:53. The Beavers' Eric Jorgensen would respond with a 16-1 technical fall against Tony Moore at 157. The two schools would split the next two weights with OU's Robbie Waller majoring Jed Pennell, 13-2, at 165 pounds and OSU's 174-pound Nathan Coy downing Michael Barger, 9-5. Sooners Josh Lambrecht (184) and May each won their matches by bonus, claiming a major decision and pin, respectively. Oregon State would notch their last win of the dual at heavyweight where Jason Cooley upset Leonce Crump, 4-2.
OU won the duals final three matches. Matt Ridings, 125 pounds, pushed his winning streak to 11-straight matches with a 4-1 victory over Michael Delaney and Witt Durden decisioned Ben Richards, 7-5, at 133 pounds. Lightner claimed the final bout of the afternoon by fall in 1:30 at 141 pounds.
The Sooners return to the mat tonight when they host Missouri at 7 p.m. in the OU Field House.
