OU Falls to Missouri in Women's Tennis Action

NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma women's tennis team suffered a 6-1 loss at the hands of Missouri in its first Big 12 Conference dual Sunday. OU drops to 3-2 overall and 0-1 in the Big 12 play.

Sooner senior and preseason All-Big 12 selection Viviana Mracnova was OU's only victor in singles action as she defeated MU's Jessica Ferguson, 6-3, 6-3.

In three of the five singles losses, OU took Missouri to three sets. Mendieta fell for the first time this season, 7-6, 4-6, 7-5, to Kristina Olshanskaya, while senior Stephanie Sajbert forced Kaitlin Thompson to three sets before falling in a tie break in the third. Sophomore Joni Helleland was edged by Cassie Drake, 5-7, 6-0, 6-3.

Oklahoma is idle this week and returns to action on Sunday, March 4, when it hosts TCU at the Westwood Tennis Courts in Norman. Match time is set for 1 p.m.
