OKLAHOMA VS. HIGH POINT
LLOYD NOBLE CENTER - NORMAN, OKLA.
Oklahoma Head Coach Kelvin Sampson
"This team has the potential to be very good defensively. We've been at the top of the league before, but this team can still get better at that end of the floor. We're going to look at film and try to teach Jabahri (Brown) some things. He was out of position at times, but he blocked some shots. He can block more and with his high ceiling, he will get better."
On Jabahri Brown's debut with Oklahoma:
"At today's shoot-around, Jabahri was nervous. I had him sit by me for the first few minutes of the game and when I told him to get in there, I thought he was going to hyperventilate. I told him that it's just a game and to go in and block some shots, grab some rebounds and start sweating. I'm happy with how well he played and I know he'll get better."
On guard Blake Johnston's play:
"He played an excellent game tonight. When we recruited Blake, I compared him to Jason Williams, the point guard for the Memphis Grizzlies. He almost had a triple-double in the game I saw. He's a great passer and in transition, he's better than anyone we have. Don't forget that he's just a freshman."
Oklahoma Sophomore Jabahri Brown
"I just wanted to get out there and have fun. I felt shaky at times, but I got into a flow and calmed down. I became more at ease as the game went on and it was good to come back. I kept playing hard and it just felt real good out there."
"Tonight's game didn't really feel new to me. I was a little nervous at first but it just all came back to me. It was almost a relief to get out there."
Oklahoma Junior Hollis Price
On tonight's game:
"I just wanted to keep playing aggressive basketball. I can stay aggressive by taking shots that I can make. My teammates did a good job of setting screens and kicking the ball out to me. They're finding me where I can get my shots off and I'm making them."
On Jabahri Brown's debut with Oklahoma:
"It's nice having a presence back there if we get beaten by our man. Their guards got past me a couple times, but for me and the other guards, it's good to know that Jabahri is back there and blocking shots. He intimidates guys when they get in the lane and it will really help us defensively."
