Norman, Okla. -- - The University of Oklahoma Athletics Department announced today that it has begun selling tickets to its events via the internet. Through the department's official Web site, SoonerSports.com, fans can now purchase tickets to OU men's and women's basketball teams, both of which are nationally ranked, online.
"This is an exciting new opportunity for our fans to purchase tickets from the comfort of own computer," said OU Athletics Director Joe Castiglione. "We want to provide a convenient transaction and I think our fans will be amazed at the simplicty of this new service."
Once on the site, fans can reach the ticket form via the ticket link or from the men's or women's basketball pages. The program shows available sections. Once a section has been selected, the best available seats are presented as an option. After the purchase is made, regardless of the time of day, the transaction is recorded and the seats are reserved.
Ticket delivery can be made in one of four ways, via regular mail, two-day mail, overnight or pick-up at Will Call. Charges vary depending on the mode selected and there is no additional charge for Will Call pick-up.
The new service is accessible 24 hours every day and offers the same ticket rates as those that are available to over-the-counter or phone patrons.
At present, season tickets for men's and women's basketball are available, plus single game purchases for the first eight men's games and the first three women's games. Additional games and sports will be added as tickets become available.
The secure purchasing system accepts Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express. An e-mail confirmation is sent once tickets are purchased.
A limited number of reserved season tickets are available for the men's team, which enters the season with a national ranking and as the defending Big 12 Conference Tournament champions.
