OKLAHOMA vs. ATHLETES FIRST McCASLAND FIELD HOUSE - NORMAN, OKLA.

Tonight's game marked OU's first contest of the season. The Sooners' 86-78 win was their 27th exhibition victory in their last 28 exhibition games. It was also their 13th straight season-opening exhibition triumph.

Tonight's contest also marked the first time the OU men's basketball team played inside the OU Field House since March 5, 1975. The Sooners won 84-79 over Iowa State that day as OU's Alvan Adams registered 43 points and 25 rebounds.

Oklahoma started with a lineup consisting of guards Ebi Ere, Quannas White and Hollis Price, and forwards Daryan Selvy and Aaron McGhee.

Behind 16 first-half points from Aaron McGhee, Oklahoma took a 46-33 lead into the halftime locker room. McGhee made all three of his three-point attempts in the first half.

OU had a 26-16 rebounding edge in the opening stanza (14-2 on the offensive end).

The Sooners shot 18-for-44 (40.9%) from the field in the first half, including 4-for-7 (57.1%) from beyond the three-point line.

Four Sooners scored in double figures: Hollis Price (20), Aaron McGhee and Ebi Ere (19 each) and Quannas White (10).

In his first exhibition game after transferring to Oklahoma from Barton County (Kan.) CC., Ebi Ere scored 19 points and grabbed eight rebounds.

Oklahoma forward Jozsef Szendrei grabbed 10 rebounds in just 19 minutes of action.

OU out-rebounded Athletes First 49-39 on the game, and scored 40 points in the paint to just 26 for Athletes First.

In guard Eric Martin and center James Mayden, two former Sooners played for Athletes First. The duo combined to score 12 points, grab 10 rebounds and dish out two assists.

Athletes First forward Alonzo Richmond led all scorers with 21 points.

The Sooners return to Lloyd Noble Center for their second and final exhibition game of the season Friday night when they host EA Sports at 7.
