Oklahoma Head Coach Kelvin Sampson
On the game:
"We beat a good team tonight. I wouldn't want to be playing a team like Central Michigan when March rolls around. I think the two weeks of practice that we had was good for us and really helped our shot selection. We held them to seven offensive rebounds and I was excited that we got to the free throw line 20 times tonight and made 18 of them. Those things were key to our success. Tonight was a good step in the right direction for this team."
On junior Hollis Price and senior Aaron McGhee:
"I thought Aaron McGhee came out tonight and played like a man. He was much more aggressive with the basketball and that was great to see. I thought Hollis came out in the second half and played like our best player."
On junior Jason Detrick:
"I liked the way Jason came out and attacked the basket tonight. He had 17 points for us but I expect more from him just like I do the rest of our kids. We just have to keep improving. This team is going to be a fun team to watch."
Oklahoma Guard Hollis Price
On tonight's win:
"We still have a lot to improve upon. This team has a high ceiling and we know we can get better every game. We improved tonight since the Michigan State game, although we were sluggish after not playing in so long. I think we really improved since then, though."
On Aaron McGhee's big game tonight:
"I knew he was going to get it going. Every day in practice, he works so hard. He stays after and shoots. He takes his time and it pays off when you work hard."
On CMU's David Webber:
"David Webber is a good player. He's a senior and a smart player. He lets the game come to him. Teams like Central Michigan need a good leader and he's it for them."
Oklahoma Forward Aaron McGhee
On his first career double-double in tonight's game:
"I didn't feel any pressure tonight, I just wanted to play well. I wanted to help my team win the best way I possibly could. I just kept playing hard and I just made some things happen tonight."
On gaining confidence from this game:
"I wanted to come out and play with confidence. I wanted to get back down low and get my touch back. I was lucky enough to do that and now I'm going to approach the Arkansas game the same way as I did tonight. I want to work as hard as possible and do everything I can to help us win. Some nights your scoring is there, some nights it's not. If they double-team me, I'm going to try to set up my teammates. If I have the chance to score and do things inside, I will do my best to do that."
Central Michigan Head Coach Jay Smith
On Oklahoma:
"Not only is Oklahoma a top-25 caliber team, but they're one that plays extremely hard. Playing teams like this can only make us better."
The keys to the game:
"There was a stretch of about three to four minutes in the second half where they made a spurt. That was the difference in the game. Turnovers and winning battles for loose balls keyed that drive for Oklahoma. Those are hustle stats and it's one of Oklahoma's strengths. Other than that (spurt), I thought we played toe-to-toe with them."
