THE GAME
The Texas Longhorns (13-3, 1-1 Big 12) invade the Lloyd Noble Center on Wednesday, Jan. 10, at 7 p.m. for the first of the two-game series against Oklahoma (9-4, 1-1 Big 12). The contest will be broadcast live on KOMA-AM (1520) radio station and on the internet at www.SoonerSports.com.

OU enters the game ranked 17th in the AP and 16th in the USA Today/ESPN coaches' polls while the Longhorns are ranked No. 14 and 15, respectively.

The two teams are coming off disappointing Big 12 Conference losses. OU lost 81-79 to Iowa State on a last-second shot in Norman, while UT suffered a 68-52 loss at Missouri on Saturday.

SERIES RECORD: OU vs. Texas, UT leads 11-4
The teams split the two-game series a year ago with each winning on the other's home court. UT defeated the Sooners, 77-70, in Norman, while Oklahoma ended Texas' 10-game home winning streak with a 76-73 win in Austin. Texas also eliminated the Sooners from the Big 12 Conference Tournament in Kansas City, 71-68.

Overall, Texas holds an all-time series advantage of 11-4, however, the two teams are 2-2 over the last four games. OU Head Coach Sherri Coale is 3-9 against Texas' Jody Conradt.

UP NEXT
Oklahoma hits the road for a contest against the Baylor Bears on Saturday, Jan. 13, in Waco, Texas, at 7 p.m. OU has won the last four games but the two teams have split the last eight games (4-4). For the first time this year Baylor ranks No. 23 in the Associated Press Poll this week.

OKLAHOMA (9-4, 1-1 BIG 12)
Oklahoma had its four-game winning streak come to an end Saturday against nationally-ranked Iowa State, 81-79, in Norman on a last-second shot by ISU's Megan Taylor. At the 6:13 minute mark, OU was down by 18 points. The Sooners then went on a 20-0 run to take their first lead of the second half, 79-77, with 1:32 remaining. With 1:10 on the clock, Lindsey Wilson connected on a pair of free throws to tie it at 79 and as time expired, Taylor's 10-foot jumper in the paint fell through the rim. The Cyclones outrebounded the Sooners, 37-25, and attempted 21 free throws to OU's seven. Oklahoma also lost its first home and televised game of the year while shooting 50 percent from the field.

Senior Sunny Hardeman (Norman, Okla.) nailed a career-high six three-pointers en route to scoring a career-high 20 points against ISU. Hardeman also had four assists while going six-for-eight from beyond the arc. Junior LaNeishea Caufield (Ada, Okla.) recorded her second double double of the season with a career-high 12 assists and 13 points. She added four steals and three rebounds to her line. Junior Stacey Dales (Brockville, Ontario) had 19 points, four rebounds and three steals while junior reserve Rosalind Ross (Milwaukee, Wis.) chipped in 12 points on four-of-eight shooting, including three treys. Iowa State had all five starters in double figure scoring with center Angie Welle leading the way with 18 points, followed by Taylor (17), Erica Haugen (15), Tracy Gahan (14) and Lindsey Wilson (10). In addition, OU sophomore Caton Hill (Ada, Okla.) grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds and had six points while junior center Jen Cunningham (Kingston, Ontario) rejected four Cyclones shots to increase her career total to 36.

As a team, OU shot 50 percent from the field (31-for-62), 61.9 percent from beyond the arc (13-for-21) and collected a season-low 25 rebounds. Iowa State was 51.9 percent from the field (28-for-54), 52.9 percent from the three-point line (9-for-17) and had 37 rebounds. The Sooners also had a season-low 14 turnovers and 23 assists to ISU's 11 assists and 18 turnovers.

LEADING THE SOONERS
OU is led in scoring by LaNeishea Caufield (Ada, Okla.), Stacey Dales (Brockville, Ontario) and Caton Hill (Ada, Okla.). Each averages 10-plus points per game for the Sooners.

Caufield sports team highs of 16.7 points and 4.3 steals per game. She also leads the league in thefts per game. Dales charts 16.1 points and a team- and Big 12 Conference-best 7.7 assists per game. Hill ranks third on the team in scoring with 11.9 ppg but leads the Sooners in rebounds with 8.6 boards per game. Jen Cunningham (Kingston, Ontario) ranks second in rebounding with 5.8 and tops the team in blocks with 1.6 stuffs per outing.

Dales ranks among the top 10 in the nation in assists while the duo (Caufield and Dales) rank among in the NCAA best in steals.

As a team, OU scores 81.6 points and gets 41.8 rebounds per game compared to its opponents' 71.9 points and 37.0 rebounds.

TEXAS (13-3, 1-1 BIG 12 )
Texas is coming off of a 62-58 loss at Missouri on Saturday. The Longhorns were led by Tai Dillard's 24 points followed by Stacy Stephens' 16 points and 16 rebound performance. The Horns were only able to manage only 33.3 from the field (24-72) and were blanked from beyond the arc (0-4). UT opened Big 12 play with a 62-49 win over Texas A&M in Austin a week ago Wednesday. Texas' other two losses came against nationally-ranked Tennessee, 67-59, and Purdue, 71-49.

Four Longhorns are averaging 10-or-more points. Dillard leads with 11.5 ppg, followed by Stephens' 11.2, JoRuth Woods' 11.0 and Tracy Cook's 10.1 points per game. Stephens also boasts a team-high 9.1 rebounds per outing while Woods ranks second with 5.8 rpg. Dillard, Stephens and Woods rank among the Big 12 Conference top 20 in scoring.

As a team, the Longhorns are averaging 75.3 points per game and shooting 42.1 percent from the field. UT's opponents score 55.8 points per game and shoot 37.4 percent from the field.

The Longhorns also out rebounds their foes 44.3 to 38.8.

Texas is coached by Jody Conradt, the all-time winningest coach in college women's basketball history with 759 overall wins in 997 games.

A LOOK BACK AT IOWA STATE
(AP) - Megan Taylor's 17 points included the game-winning jumper at the buzzer as seventh-ranked Iowa State beat No. 19 Oklahoma 81-79 Saturday in Norman.

Taylor's shot in the lane rendered meaningless a late 20-0 run by Oklahoma and gave the Cyclones (11-1, 2-0) their second straight road victory.

Angie Welle added 18 points and seven rebounds for Iowa State as all five Iowa State starters scored in double figures.

Oklahoma took the lead in the first half and didn't relinquish it until Welle's basket with 8:28 left in the half made it 26-26. Iowa State led 45-34 at halftime.

The Cyclones were ahead 77-59 with 6:13 left in the game when Oklahoma (9-4, 1-1) changed the complexion of the game by scoring 20 straight points.

Sunny Hardeman made four of her career-high six 3-pointers in the second half for a career-high 20 points. Her 3-pointer with 1:32 left in the game put the Sooners up for the first time in the second half, 79-77.

Iowa State's Lindsey Wilson finally stopped her team's drought, tying the game at 79 with two free throws, before Taylor's game-winning basket.

Iowa State outrebounded Oklahoma 37-25 and attempted 14 more free throws than the Sooners. Oklahoma's 25 rebounds and seven free throw attempts were both season lows.

LaNeishea Caufield had 13 points and a career-high 12 assists for Oklahoma while juniors Stacey Dales had 19 points and Rosalind Ross added 12 points.

SOONER BACKCOURT TANDEM AS GOOD AS IT GETS
Juniors LaNeishea Caufield (Ada, Okla.) and Stacey Dales (Brockville, Ontario) are one of the best guard tandems in America. Thirteen games into the season, Caufield and Dales lead the Sooners and are among the Big 12 Conference and NCAA as they post impressive numbers.

Dales ranks among the NCAA top 10 and leads the team and Big 12 Conference in assists with 7.7 per game. She also averages 16.1 points, 4.7 rebounds and 3.9 steals per game while shooting 44.7 percent from the field and 67.2 percent from the charity stripe. The Canadian is also among the league's best in four categories: assists, assists/turnover ratio, steals and scoring.

Caufield leads the team and ranks seventh in the Big 12 Conference in scoring with 16.7 points per game. She also leads the league and ranks among in the nation in thefts top 10 with 4.3 steals per outing. The Oklahoman also contributes 4.3 boards and nails 87.7 percent of her free throws.

DALES 25 POINTS SHY OF THE 1,000-POINT PLATEAU
Junior guard Stacey Dales (Brockville, Ontario) is just 25 points shy of becoming the 16th member of the elite 1,000 point club for the University of Oklahoma. Dales has 209 points on the season, pushing her career total to 975. She opened the season by scoring a season-high 24 points against Tulsa in the Bertha Teague Classic and has scored in double digits in 11 of 13 games this year.

OU's point guard also has dished out 100 assists, including a career-high 14 against SMU. Dales currently ranks second among OU's all-time greats in assists and needs 161 to become OU's all-time leader. She has 440 career assists.

She ranks among in the NCAA top 10 while leading the team and Big 12 Conference in assists per game with 7.7. In addition, she ranks second on the team in scoring (16.1 ppg) and is third in rebounding (4.7 rpg).

SOONER VERSATILITY
Head Coach Sherri Coale has a deeper and more versatile team as six players are playing 10-or-more minutes per game.

SUNNY DAYS ARE HERE
Senior Sunny Hardeman (Norman, Okla.) hit a career-high six three-pointers en route to scoring a career-high 20 points against Iowa State Saturday. The guard had only made 12 treys on the year until she hit six of her eight attempts vs. the Cyclones. "My teammates were able to find me for the three-pointers and when I'm wide open, I will definitely take the shot," said Hardeman.

Hardeman's performance around the arc moved her up to No. 5 on the career three-pointers made chart. She now has hit 93 career treys. She also ranks on the all-time assists list at No. 12 with 223.

For the year, she averages 5.0 points, 2.5 rebounds, 2.7 assists and hits 48.6 percent of her three-point shots. Hardeman is among the conference leaders in three-point percentage, hitting 48.6 (7th), and three-pointers made per game with 1.38 (15th)

DOUBLE DOSE
Sophomore Caton Hill (Ada, Okla.) is tied for second in the Big 12 Conference and leads the team for most double doubles with five this season. Before the Iowa State game Saturday, Hill had produced four-straight double-doubles including career highs of 25 points and 15 rebounds at Colorado on Jan. 3. The power forward owns 11 career double-doubles.

Hill tops the team in rebounding with 8.6 per game and field goal percentage (.508) of players averaging 20-plus minutes per game. She also ranks third on the team in scoring with 11.9 points per game. Within the Big 12 Conference, Hill is fourth in rebounding, 11th in field goal percentage and 20th in scoring.

SOONERS AGAINST TOP 25 TEAMS
The Sooners are 4-2 against top-25 opponents at the Lloyd Noble Center over the last two years. The win against Stanford marked the second time this year that Oklahoma has accomplished the feat after upsetting then-13th-ranked Southwest Missouri State on Dec. 1. Last year, OU defeated Texas Tech (No. 13/13), 82-76, and Kansas (No. 24/25), 88-69, in Norman.

OU's only home losses to a top-25 teams have been against Iowa State, 81-79, and to the 2000 NCAA champions Connecticut, 84-68, on Dec. 29, 2000.

CUNNINGHAM HAS BECOME A FACTOR FOR SUCCESS
Junior Jen Cunningham (Kingston, Ontario, Canada) has emerged as a bright spot for the Sooners. She's appeared in 10 of OU's 13 starting lineups and has set or matched career highs in nine of 12 categories, including 15 rebounds at San Diego on Dec. 21. Cunningham contributes 4.5 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game plus shoots 40.3 percent from the field [25-for-62].

Against San Diego, Cunningham rejected a personal-best five Torores' shots. She now ranks ninth on OU's all-time blocked shots list with 40.

NO CUPCAKES ON THIS SCHEDULE
Wednesday's game against Texas marks the seventh top-25 opponent Oklahoma has played this year. OU is 2-4 against the nation's best teams [Georgia, Wisconsin, SMS-twice, Stanford, Iowa State].

SOONER BRIEFS
The last time Oklahoma opened league action with a 20-point win was against Nebraska, 79-58, in Norman in 1995-96. OU defeated Colorado by 20, 89-69, in Boulder on Jan. 3.

Against Stanford, six OU players scored in double figures, marking the first time since the 1995-96 season that this feat had been accomplished. In 1995, six players posted 10 or more points in OU's opening game at TCU and seven players recorded double digits in scoring two games later vs. North Texas.

Against Colorado, three Sooners scored 20-or-more points in a single game for the first time since 1992. Caton Hill (Ada, Okla.) led the way with a career-high 25 points followed by LaNeishea Caufield's (Ada, Okla.) season-high 22 while Stacey Dales (Brockville, Ontario) added 20. Against Kansas in 1992, Carin Stites scored 23 points while Angi Guffy had 22 and Mandy Wade added 20 in OU's 88-73 win in Manhattan.

Oklahoma is 8-0 when leading at halftime.

Oklahoma is 2-4 against nationally-ranked teams and 4-1 in televised games.

OU won its first double overtime game with a 65-63 win at San Diego.

Junior Jen Cunningham (Kingston, Ontario) now ranks ninth on OU's all-time blocked shots list with 40.

LaNeishea Caufield (Ada, Okla.) has scored in double figure in 12 of 13 games.

Oklahoma is 4-1 inside the Lloyd Noble Center and has won 12 of its last 14 home games.

Senior Sunny Hardeman (Norman, Okla.) and junior Stacey Dales (Brockville, Ontario) serve as the team co-captains.

Sophomore Caton Hill (Ada, Okla.) has produced five double-doubles this season and has 11 for her career.

Junior guard LaNeishea Caufield (Ada, Okla.) scored her 1,000th career point against Georgia on Nov. 22. Caufield now has 1,176 career points.

OU's largest margin of victory is season has been 41 points at UALR.

Stacey Dales' (Brockville, Ontario) 14 assists against SMU on Dec. 9 tops the Big 12 Conference and ranks third for most assists ever in a single game for a Sooner.

Caton Hill (Ada, Okla.) had three straight double-doubles over the holiday break to capture Big 12 Conference Player of the Week honors in a vote of a media panel for games during Dec. 18-31. Hill led OU with 22 points and 10 rebounds in the Sooners' 102-98 overtime win against Stanford. Against North Texas, she scored 14 points and had 11 rebounds. Vs. San Diego, she had 14 points and 11 rebounds. Over the three-game span, she averaged 16.0 points and 11.3 rebounds and shot 59.0 from the field (23-for-39) while playing 30.7 minutes per game.
