Kissack And Webb Lead Sooner's Cross Country At Cowboy Jamboree

DALLAS, Texas -- Brandon Kissack ran a 25:39 to finish 28th in the standings to lead the Sooner men to an 18th-place finish at the Cowboy Jamboree on Saturday. For the Sooner women, Stephanie Webb had the best finish for the second consecutive week, finishing 39th with a 19:33 in the 5K.
The 25:39 marked a career best for Kissack in the 8K. He had run a 25:55.27 two weeks ago to mark the first time in his career under the 26-minute mark for the 8K.
The Sooner women competed for the second meet in a row without their leader, senior Corrie Hussar, who is out with pneumonia.
Abilene Christian won the university men's division with 40 points and Texas Christian took the women's title with 61 points.
Other Sooner finishers for the men included Joey McNair (61-26:30), Cecil Rose (108-27:51), Forrest Walker (119-28:14), Jason Brown (120-28:16), Marco Torres (124-28:3) and Jarod Kelly (125-28:43). The Sooners finished with 436 points.
Career-best times were posted in the 8K event by McNair and Walker. Both had lowered their career marks in the 8K at the SMU Invitational two weeks ago.
Sooner women finishers include Sinead Holt (55-19:54), Aisha Stringer (68-20:20), Amanda Luksetich (72-20:36), Kim Thomas (81-20:54), Jenny Ledford (87-21:24) and Abby Nutter (88-21:36). The Sooners finished with 315 points.
The Sooners will take the upcoming weekend off from competition. OU will return to competition on Oct. 14 with a trip to the Chili Pepper Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark., and then will close out the month of October at the Big 12 Championships in Boulder, Colo., on Oct. 28.
