NORMAN, Okla. - Oklahoma's Jeff Bajenaru racked up his fourth All-American distinction this season as the senior outfielder/reliever was named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association's (NCBWA) first team as a utility player. Bajenaru, who tied Arizona State's Casey Myers for the first team honors, ended the season second in the nation in saves with 20, while also posting a .342 average at the plate with 11 home runs and 58 RBIs.
The selection marked Bajenaru's initial first team All-America laurel as the Chino Hills, Calif., native was named a second team All-America by Baseball Weekly and The Sporting News as a utility player and a third team All-America selection by Collegiate Baseball as a relief pitcher. Bajenaru also garnered All-Big 12 honors as both an outfielder (first team) and a relief pitcher (second team) as well as second team Academic All-Big 12 accolades.
Bajenaru recently signed a professional contract with the Chicago White Sox, who drafted him in the 36th round of the 1999 draft, prior to the 2000 First-Year Player Draft.
