NORMAN, Okla. - Eighteen University of Oklahoma baseball scholar-athletes were named to the 2000 Big 12 Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll, as released by the league offices late yesterday, for their outstanding academic performances during the spring semester. Senior Chad Cochell, a six-time recipient, and sophomore Rocky Cherry, a four-time honoree, headline seven players who have been awarded with the distinction for the second-consecutive semester. Included among the 18 Oklahoma honor roll recipients was one perfect 4.0 grade point average by red-shirt freshman Ben Duval. OU's total tied Texas Tech for the second-highest sum produced by a conference baseball team.

The list recognizes all student-athletes (letterwinners and non-letterwinners) that have achieved a GPA of a 3.0 or higher during the previous semester. As a whole, the Big 12 set an all-time high of 2,262 student-athletes that were named to the honor roll, exceeding the previous high of 2,210 set in the fall of 1999.
