Bajenaru And Cherry Selected To Baseball Academic All-Big 12 Teams

NORMAN, Okla. - Oklahoma baseball team members Jeff Bajenaru and Rocky Cherry were named to the 2000 Baseball Academic All-Big 12 Team, as announced by the conference office today. Cherry was a first team selection for the second-consecutive year, while Bajenaru was recognized as a member of the second team.

A sophomore pitcher from Coppell, Texas, Cherry is currently focusing on university studies, while Bajenaru, a senior outfielder/pitcher who hails from Chino Hills, Calif., is majoring in sociology and obtaining a minor in criminology. Both scholar-athletes also garnered Sooner Scholar accolades from the university athletic department for their academic accomplishments during the 1999 fall semester.

Forty-four conference student-athletes were honored as members of the baseball academic all-league squad, which consisted of 25 first team and 19 second team members. First team members are those that have posted a grade point average of 3.2 or better, while second team members are those denoted as having a GPA between 3.0 and 3.19.
