OKLAHOMA

Head Coach Larry Cochell
(On his team's performance) - "This is a happy-sad moment, happy for us because we obviously won but Sunny (Galloway) because they are part of our family so it is sad for them. We are elated that we won the ball game because we will get another chance at the Bruins. I thought that Michael (Bradbury) had some good stuff starting out but being here all day and last night, he just started running out of gas. Coose came in and did a good job and then (Jeff) Bajenaru. We had some timely hits and then they helped us a little bit. We were happy with a couple of our defensive plays but we are going to have to play better defensively tomorrow."

Player Michael Bradbury
(On his pitching performance) - "I felt pretty good the first few innings. After the six run inning in the second I got a little tired, my arm got cold and it kept getting worse. It kept getting worse but I kept throwing strikes. Overall I did pretty good. We just kept fighting. Nobody wanted to go home. We all want to keep playing and go as far as we can."

  • Rocky Cherry's 6.2 innings pitched this afternoon marks his longest outing in relief this season.
  • Cherry is now one outing shy of tying former sooner pitcher Geoff Geary (1998) for second place on OU's single-season appearance list with 32.
  • After rattling off at 13-straight games with double-digit hits, the Sooners offense has been held to less than 10 hits in three of the last four games.

ORU

Head Coach Sunny Galloway
(On missed opportunities) - "I think our missed opportunities were pretty apparent, but I attributed the stranded runners to their pitching. Their pitcher stepped up and made some quality pitches."

(On his pride in his program) - "If you said you are going to have to coach at one place the rest of your life and you could pick one team, I would pick this one. It is not because of conference championships or the 49 victories, it is because of the guys we have."

Player Ryan Neill
(General Comments)
"I guess we just didn't get the breaks tonight. We played well, they played well but they got more breaks than we did."

  • Garrett Atkins extends his season-high hit streak to 21 straight.
  • Josh Karp has won his eighth straight game, and eighth in last nine appearances.
  • Bill Scott, with his three hits today, is just one hit shy of UCLA's single-season record. Scott now has 107 hits this season and the record is 108 by Troy Glans in 1997.
  • Chase Utley's inside the park home run is the first inside the park homer for the Bruins this season.
  • Jon Brandt earned his first save of the season this afternoon.
