AMES, Iowa - Catcher Chris Haggard (3-for-4) entered the Oklahoma record books by belting three home runs Sunday afternoon as the 24th-ranked Sooners defeated the Iowa State Cyclones, 5-3, at Cap Timm Field. Haggard tied a school record by hitting the three roundtrippers in a single contest and also tied another school record by hitting the home runs in three-consecutive at bats. The feat was the second time in the series that a Sooner has hit three home runs in a game as first baseman Rick Park also tied the record in Friday's contest. Both teams closed out their regular season schedules as OU improved to 37-19 overall and 20-10 in the Big 12 Conference and ISU finished at 19-37 overall and 7-23 in the league.

Leftfielder Sean Murphy and second baseman Zach Lekse both contributed two-hit performances in the game for OU, while shortstop Tommy Whiteman moved into a tie for third place on the school's all-time season-best list by roping his eighth triple of the season and third in two days. Starting pitcher Logan Cuellar (3-1) picked up the win by working five innings and allowing only two runs and Jeff Bajenaru closed out the game for his 18th save. Bajenaru also placed himself in the record books as he tied for second place on the school's pitching appearances list with 32 on the season.

ISU third baseman Rob Conway nailed his 10th home run of the season as part of a 2-for-4 performance to lead the Cyclones offensively. Brian Curtin suffered the loss to fall to 1-8 on the season.
