COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The University of Oklahoma baseball team secured a series win over Texas A&M by winning their second game in a row, 5-2, Saturday night at Pat Olsen Field. Three OU pitchers combined to hold the Aggies to seven hits as starter Austin Mix (7-1) picked up the win and Jeff Bajenaru (9) earned his ninth save of the season and second in as many games against A&M. Oklahoma improved to 22-14 and 8-6 in the Big 12 Conference and Texas A&M fell to 21-18 overall and 10-7 in the league.
Bajenaru, third baseman Jason Bartlett and shortstop Tommy Whiteman each turned in two-hit efforts on the night for Oklahoma. Bajenaru scored three of the teams five runs, inlcuding a solo homer to put the Sooners in front at the top of the second inning. Second baseman Zach Lekse extended his career-high 16 game hitting streak with a base hit and drove in two runs.
Aggie centerfielder Eric Reed went 2-for-5 at the plate to lead the Aggie offense and starting pitcher Khalid Ballouli (4-4) suffered the loss for Texas A&M.
The Sooners go for the three-game sweep in the series finale tomorrow at 1 p.m. at Pat Olsen Field.
