NORMAN, Okla. - After leading the Longhorns for the majority of the game, Oklahoma fell, 6-5, to No. 3 Texas in 11 innings Friday night at L. Dale Mitchell Park. UT (28-5, 13-2 Big 12) tied the game at five in the top of the ninth inning to send the Sooners (17-13, 5-5) into their first extra-innings contest of the season. With two out in the top of the 11th inning, Longhorn third baseman Chris Houser singled in second baseman Tommy Nicholson to score the winning run off OU reliever Clint Dunbar (0-3).

Tied at one entering the bottom of the third inning, rightfielder/pitcher Jeff Bajenaru (1-for-5) hammered a three-run home run to account for three of the Sooners' four runs in the inning to give OU an early 5-1 advantage. On the mound in the ninth inning, Bajenaru gave up the tying run, his first blown save in two years (a stretch of 13-straight save opportunities). Centerfielder Jerome Godsey added a fine offensive performance for the Sooners by going 3-for-4 at the plate with a run scored. Shortstop Zach Lekse extended his career-high hitting streak to 11 games with a 1-for-3 effort with a run scored.

Leftfielder Mike Pumo paced the Longhorns offensively with a 2-for-4 evening with two runs scored and two RBIs, including a solo home run to lead off the seventh inning. Charlie Thames (4-0) picked up the win for Texas after pitching three innings of scoreless-relief.

The two teams meet again tomorrow at 1 p.m. at L. Dale Mitchell Park for the second game of the three-game series. OU Paddle Fans will be given away to the first 250 fans through the gates.
