Oklahoma Defeats Oral Roberts, 4-1, In Baseball Action

TULSA, Okla. - Sophomores Michael Bradbury and Evan Greusel combined to hold Oral Roberts to one run on eight hits as Oklahoma defeated the Golden Eagles, 4-1, Tuesday night at J.L. Johnson Stadium. Bradbury (1-0), who started the game for OU, picked up his first win of the season and Greusel came in to pitch the final four innings to earn his first save. The Sooners, who captured their second win over the Golden Eagles this year, improved to 15-10 overall, while ORU dropped to 13-6.

Oklahoma's offensive star of the game was shortstop Zach Lekse who went 3-for-4 at the plate with an RBI and a run scored. Designated hitter Tommy Whiteman drove in two runs on the evening as part of a 1-for-4 performance. Bradbury pitched a season-high five innings in his second start on the season and gave up ORU's lone run. Greusel struck out a career-high six batters and held the Golden Eagles hitless through his four innings of work.

Golden Eagle centerfielder Jeff Stallings paced ORU offensively with a 2-for-5 performace and a run scored. Starting pitcher Jordan Gerk (2-3) suffered the loss for Oral Roberts after allowing two runs on five hits.

The game was delayed an hour because of rain in the sixth inning. The Sooners return home to host No. 21 Baylor this weekend for a three-game series beginning on Friday at 6:35 p.m.
