Women's Hoops Drops One To Texas, 77-70

NORMAN, Okla. (AP) - Joruth Woods scored 15 points and three other Texas players were in double figures as the Longhorns beat No. 18 Oklahoma 77-70 in a Big 12 Conference game Wednesday night.

Texas (17-8, 8-4 Big 12) trailed for the only time at 47-44 with 15:43 left. The Longhorns ran off the next 10 points and there was no recovery for the Sooners, who lost for the first time at home in the conference season.

Carla Littleton added 14 for Texas and Edwina Brown, who averages 21 points per game, had 12.

Brown played just six minutes in the first half after picking up two quick fouls. Leading 12-6 when Brown went out, Texas made eight of its next nine shots and led 29-16 with 8:57 left.

Phylesha Whaley paced the Sooners with 31 points.

Texas outrebounded the Sooners 45-35 and had 31 points off of second-chance opportunities.

Texas led 41-36 at halftime.
