NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma baseball team (3-0) closes out its five-game homestand this weekend against Oklahoma City University with two games at L. Dale Mitchell Park in Norman. The first of the two games will be played on Saturday, Feb. 12, at 11 a.m., while the second game is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start on Sunday, Feb. 13. The Sooners will be looking to avenge a 14-13 home loss to the Stars last year. Oklahoma City's victory last year marked only the second time in school history that OCU has topped OU.

Senior Jeff Bajenaru is slated to start the first game of the series, while junior Austin Coose (1-0) will throw from the mound on Sunday. Through the first three games, junior third baseman Jason Bartlett leads the team offensively with a .556 average and team-leading .667 on-base percentage. The team opened the season with victories over Oklahoma Baptist, Central Oklahoma and Missouri Southern this past week.

The weekend set opens the 2000 season for the Stars. OCU is coming off a successful 1999 season in which the Stars compiled a 57-14 overall record, setting a school record for wins, and finished fifth in the NAIA World Series. In addition, the Stars also posted a 22-2 conference record, good for first place in the Sooner Athletic Conference.

OCU returns 18 lettermen and has 17 newcomers who will play key roles this season. Senior outfielder Jeff Pietraszko headlines a group of six returning starters after hitting .329 with 23 home runs, 80 RBIs and 47 stolen bases. Senior Mark Percosky, who went 7-2 with a 7.66 ERA, is OCUs lone returning starting pitcher.

Tickets for Sooner baseball games are $7 for box seats and $5 for general admission seating.
